Guided Riding and Hiking Trips

The folks at Cascade Corrals are experienced outfitters that offer a variety of horse-supported hiking and riding trips in the Lake Chelan recreation area, North Cascades National Park, Glacier Peak and Sawtooth Wilderness, and Wenatchee National Forest. Trips range in length from three to seven days during the months of July and August. Most trips are done in a 'loop" so you are not backtracking over an already traveled area.

With forty years of experience, the Courtney's have been able to hone their outfit to provide the best camping experience possible in an area of unsurpassed beauty. They prepare tempting meals for the entire trip and are skilled horsemen with pack, and riding horses that are gentle and trailwise. All camp gear is provided including a big cook-tent, sleeping tents, and even a duffle bag for your personal gear and sleeping bag.

The hiking trips are called 'Hike and Like It Trips" because, while the horses carry all the camp gear and food, you are free to hike at your own pace to savor your time on the trail. These trips provide an excellent opportunity for those who want to enjoy the high country that are inexperienced, do not wish to carry a heavy pack or eat freeze-dried food. You are able to travel at your own speed to relish the spectacular scenery, take pictures, or fish.

Riding trips are an option for those who would rather ride than walk, and enjoy horses. You do not have to be an experienced rider to enjoy the high country on horseback. There will be plenty of time to stop for breaks along the way, to stretch, eat lunch, or take pictures. There are fewer riding trips offered and they vary year to year in to what area they go.

There are also leisure days when you "layover" for two nights. A great chance to really explore a special area, get up on some breathtaking ridges, or just take it easy, kick back and enjoy the peaceful high country.

These trips make a unique vacation and are an excellent opportunity to get out into the mountains for anyone interested in the outdoors and getting away from the hustle and bustle of hectic everyday life.
